IDentity Sickness
There is a tragic epidemic in the churches across North America that is spiritually killing millions of women. This epidemic can be likened to an auto-immune disease--where the body literally kills itself over time.
This epidemic is called IDentity Sickness. God created women in the likeness of His Son--Jesus. Eating away at that very image is IDentity Sickness. It erodes the ability of women to embrace their new identity IN Christ and is causing this epidemic of IDentity Sickness to spread like wild fire.
IDentity Sickness is the damaging effects that occurs when a born-again woman continues to build her self-worth with culturally acceptable behaviors, appearances, fashion, or material possessions. Otherwise known as IDentity Sickness begins with IDentity Management, where one strives to manage externally how other people, social groups or church goers view them.
IDentity Management takes a tremendous amount of effort and is the basis for surface relationships within the body of Christ. To the degree that one hides who they really are, they will need to expend energy to persuade others to see them in a culturally acceptable way. This leads to isolation, which in turn, leads to IDentity Sickness.
The only way to cure IDentity Sickness is to begin to accept who you are in Christ when you are tempted to manage your identity in public. You must also trust God to give you the courage to live in truth -- the truth that sets you free. Put another way, you must live IN CHRIST, who is Truth, and has set you free to embrace your identity in Him.
Imagine living a life free IN Christ. Free from the daily bondage of having to appear to be the best mother, wife, Christian, worker or "nicest person." What freedom! We are not to measure ourselves with our own standards but by who we are IN Christ.
We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

Meditate on these verses below to help you gain freedom from the bondage of IDentity Management which leads to IDentity Sickness.
Women are made in the likeness or image of God:
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” NLT
Genesis 1:27
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. NLT
Genesis 5:1
This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. NIV
Genesis 9:6
"Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man. NIV
James 3:9
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. NIV

The next generation of women are counting on us to stop the crazy IDentity Sickness epidemic. My daughter and other young women are counting on us to pass on this Christlike example!
